| 10th Comptroller & Auditor General of Bangladesh Mr.Ahmed Ataul Hakeem, FCMA, was appointed as the 10th Comptroller and Auditor General of Bangladesh on 12th February,2008. He had his BA (Hons) and MA in Economics from the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh, MSS in Development Finance from the Birmingham University, UK. Certificate in Public Sector Budgeting from Harvard University, USA. Certificate in Public Financial Management from Royal Institute of Public Administration (RIPA) London,Diploma in Management from the Bangladesh Open University. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Bangladesh (FCMA).
Professional Experience:
Mr. Ahmed Ataul Hakeem joined the Bangladesh Civil Service: Audit and Accounts Cadre in March 1979. During his illustrious career in the Civil Service, Mr. Hakeem worked in both accounts offices and audit directorates of the Audit and Accounts Department and Budget Wing of the Ministry of Finance & Planning. After the introduction of Departmental Accounts system, he became the first ever Chief Accounts Officer of the Government of Bangladesh. Mr. Hakeem worked as the Director/Deputy Secretary in the Budget Wing of the Finance Division, Ministry of Finance from 1991-1997. He became the Director General of Audit Department in 1997 and was head of Financial Management Academy (FIMA) for 5 years. He also carried out duties as Director General Civil Audit Directorate. In 2004-2005, he was posted as the Deputy Comptroller and Auditor General (Senior) at the Office of the Comptroller and Auditor General of Bangladesh . Prior to his appointment as the 10 th Comptroller and Auditor General of Bangladesh , he served as the Controller General Defence Finance of the Ministry of Defence. |
New CGDF |
Mr. MD. MOTAHER HUSSAIN joined as the Controller General Defence Finance (CGDF) on August 23, 2010. Prior to this appointment, Mr. HUSSAIN served as the Economic Minister of the Permanent Mission of Bangladesh, Geneva.
Mr. Hussain was born in 1954 in the district of Chandpur. He did his BA (Hons) and MA in Economics from the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. He obtained a post-graduate diploma on Public Financial Management from the University of Connecticut, USA. He has some publications also. |

Mr. Hussain joined the Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS): Audit and Accounts Cadre in March 1979. During his career in the Civil Service, he worked as the DG of various audit directorates, Senior Finance Controllers (SFCs) of Defence Finance Department ( DFD) and also as DG of PMO. He has visited more than twenty countries of the world.
He is married and blessed with one son and one daughter. |
CGDF calls on Chiefs of Three Services |

1. Controller General Defence Finance (CGDF) called on the Chief of the Army Staff: General Mohammad Abdul Mubeen, ndc, psc, on September 22, 2010 at Army HQ. In course of discussion, the Army Chief was supportive of bringing more automation in the Army in addition to pay-roll automation for the Army officers done at FC (Army) pay-1. CGDF assured full cooperation of his department to that end. While CGDF raised the issue of the entitlement of the medical facility for the DFD personnel in the CMH, the Chief of the Army staff supported the idea, subject to the revision of the TOR of CMH. SFC (Army) Mr. Md. Mahtab uddin accompanied the CGDF in the Meeting. |

2. CGDF called on the Chief of the Naval Staff: Vice Admiral Zahir-uddin Ahmed (ND), ndc, psc, bn at Naval HQ at Banani on October 12, 2010. The Naval Chief welcomed the CGDF and mentioned the on-going pay-roll automation system for delivering effective services for the Naval personnel. CGDF assured him of making best possible effort on behalf of the DFD. During the discussion, the Naval Chief supported the CGDF’s initiative for getting the medical facility in the CMH for DFD Personnel. SFC (Navy) Dr. Shyamal Kanti Chowdhury was present with the CGDF in the Meeting. |

3. CGDF called on the Chief of the Air Staff: Air Marshal SM Ziaur Rahman, ndc, faw, psc, on September 15, 2010 at Air HQ. They discussed various issues of mutual interest during the meeting. The Air Chief emphasized on the automation system of the pay and allowances, TA/DA, pension bill and others for the air force personnel. CGDF assured him of rendering best possible services. While in the meeting, CGDF raised the issue of the entitlement of the medical facility of the DFD personnel in the CMH, the Air Chief was supportive of that. SFC (Air) Mr. Md. Harunur Rashid Jamadar was present in the Meeting. |
